I did this with LED strips inside a frame between two pieces of muslin to catch the light from the strips. It worked well enough, but the individual LEDs were somewhat visible and it didn't look all that natural since the gradually lost intensity toward the center of the "pane". In that case...

I've done the DS corners, both more towards center and all the way out on the proscenium. For a musical group with tracks I put them behind the group and delayed the main and that worked exceptionally well. The kids heard it well, the monitors blend well with the mains and you end up running...
Not my idea, but a friend did this with a large roll of a reflective mylar material stretched across the back of the stage behind a ground row. They bounced light off the mylar into the cyc and had techs gently move the mylar to get the look they wanted. It was very effective.
I wonder too how much vibrational energy is transferred down the end pin. Most musicians I've seen use a foam or rubber rock stop aka hockey puck to avoid slipping and/or damaging the deck. That'd have a pretty significant attenuating effect.I've never seen anyone super concerned about the...
I think like every other leap in tech, people will use it to make bad art and artists will find a way to innovate in new ways. 🤷♂️ It's fun to make bad art sometimes
I've had two clients in the past month supply us with artwork that has been AI generated for their events. I think it has the potential to put a dent into the digital backdrop cottage industry.
Coming from a venue that had zero access to houselights, it's nice that someone took the time to make a system to accomplish that relatively safely. It kinda looks like the winch drum bend radius is too small and might be causing it to unwravel, especially if the pendents are indeed that heavy...
A habit I got into was to lay down tempered hardboard over the T&G and tape the ends together. This created a floating floor that was great for building sets on, allowed for painting the floor without messing with the stage itself and the cast enjoyed the 4x8' tape seams for blocking, but once...
