Hey guys, I am looking for something that I am not even sure exists. I need a 4 button wall switch with 4 latching relays. What I have is a lighting controller that accepts GPI (general purpose input) where if I close relay 1 it does something, if I close relay 2 it does something else, etc. They have to be latching because when the relay is released then the lights turn off.

I have been all over Google and found NOTHING. I called all the local electrical supply houses in Dallas, and am having a difficult time making them understand what I am looking for.

The electrical signal is simply a 12V control signal.

Can you guys help???
No questions from me this time, I just wanted to share some pictures of a vintage century strand dimmer system I get to use for a summer stock production I'm running this weekend. Enjoy!

Hello all, I pose a very interesting and difficult question and challenge.
We have an ETC Sensor+ 96 channel dimming system in our auditorium here. It is very nice, works great with no problems. This is primarily controlled by our ETC Express board via plain DMX.
Now we hooked up an old computer that we had lying around and found this program (made by ETC) called Sensor and Connect. This allows us to do a number of things, such as check for rack errors, etc., etc. The one thing I found interesting is the ability to turn on any dimmer (or series of dimmers) to any level.
Now this motivated me, you have to type channels ___ through ___ at ____ level and manual clear the dimmers. I created some small programs to type the numbers for me and turn on and off "presets" via this system. It was cool, but I know there is better. This program is limited to being on a network on an old computer using the Internet Explorer 6 browser.
So here is the question:
Can you control the dimmer system entirely via ethernet using software with a visual interface similar to a light board that acts in the same way? Could this be done from any old (or new) computer?
Now I believe the answer to that is yes, so now I pose two challenges:
1. How?
2. If yes, could this be done via a wireless network as to turn a laptop into a wireless, portable light board?
Some keywords that may or may not help me or anyone else who's up to the challenge: ETCNet3, EDMX.

I would like to integrate a clearcom channel into a headphone that would allow our md to use one set of headphones for both clearcom and monitor. Is this even possible? It would be fantastic to also use the microphone (the headphones would be like what you would use for computer games...headphone and mic on boom).

Hi,
I've been asked to design a show with 20 ColorBlaze 72 in A mode, using them as an unconventional video screen with simple animations. At first I tought using a ChamSys MQ100's PixelMapper, creating a 20x12 grid and playing MagicQ standard graphics. What I really want to do is control them with a mediaserver (I have access to an Arkaos Mediamaster PRO server) to send them regular video converted in ArtNet data (with arkaos ledmapper).
I will have access to the colorblaze just some days before the show and i've never seen or used them...
My question is: do they accept artnet data or just dmx over the ethernet ports? Is there any external controller to convert data (straight video or artnet data)? I cant use regular dmx cables 'cause mediaserver has only 1 dmx out and 20 of them dont fit a single universe.
thanks for help!

I am considering a lighting control change. I run our school district auditorium which seats 1,000. We have a 50' x 25' proscenium stage and 96 conventional dimmers controlled by a Colortran Innovator 48/96 console. Aside from the kiddie programs our High School and Jr. High perform musicals. We also rent to the public for beauty pageants, dance recitals, music concerts and plays of various varieties. We do not have a fly system but this past year we installed a cyclorama and 24 ETC Vivid R's to wash it with. We also installed 24 ETC Desire LED's for color stage wash. That is when the weirdness began.

The Innovator doesn't control the LED's very well. Weird things like when I record a color wash to one of the sub masters in combination with conventional's, the LED's will die when the sub reaches 100%. Or having LED color on one sub and conventional's on another causes a cross fade when attempting to bring one up and then another. Then there are the times when the LED's having been recorded into a cue stack simply stop responding as though they are no longer receiving signal????

So here is what I'm thinking. Using MagicQ PC to run the LED's with a touch screen monitor and leaving the conventionals on the Innovator. If all goes well, then I would try to control everything with MagicQ PC. My concern is whether or not I can quickly access individual channels, both conventional and LED, for live adjustments. I run both sound and lights by myself except for the High School and Jr. High plays. Then I get someone to run the lighting cues I have recorded. Ultimately I wouldn't mind replacing the Innovator with a Chamsys PC wing. Do you think that setup would be overkill for my house? I think it probably is since there won't be any ML in the foreseeable future, but part of me just doesn't care if it will be stable and I can do good things with it.

Thanks in advance for some feedback.

So, without attacking the nature of this post. Let me preface by saying that this is strictly informational and I am looking for the best way to procede with the administration at this local high school.

I was brought in as a designer/tech for a local band gala and during the install last night, I noticed two circuits on the raceway where a stage pin connector had welded itself to its receptacle. After breakering off the main, I opened the raceway to remove the female port, hoping to replace it with a new one when I noticed that there was no grounding wire run through it. Since this is a relatively new install (I believe within 10 years) this seemed off to me. The question I have, before I frighten the school administration, is can you think of any reason or loophole within the NEC code that would allow an installer to not run a grounding wire to a receptacle on a raceway?

I want to bring this to the attention of the right people, but I also want to make sure that I have all my ducks in a row before doing so. Thanks!

I don't even know if what I'm looking for is reverb. We recently recorded a concert of a choir with generally close micing. The conductor and director would like a further sounding sound as the whole point of the choir is not to be able to hear each of the individual voices. Simultaneously I'm not looking to make it sound like they were in the world's biggest concert hall. My problem is that there is always a long decay with reverb which makes sense. I need something (could be a reverb plugin or otherwise) that would accomplish what I am looking for. I am using Studio One to edit and have tried the built in verb plugins plus Waves IR-1.

Hello CB!
At the theater I work for, as the sound designer, the dance instructors for various shows give me CD's that are just regular MP3's and or WAV's, and often have instructions like "Cut out the first chorus and skip the interlude between the end in the second chorus." Which means essentially cutting a chunk out of the file. I have advised the instructors against having me do it, because it is very hard (if not downright impossible) to just "cut" an audio file like that and keep it flowing as the music was recorded. At least with the software in my budget, which is Audacity. I am also aware that my need for more experience could just be an element, but nonetheless I am curious what the experts have to say. Of course, I do my best with what I have, and think I have made them audio files that will work. Does anyone else have any better ideas or experience with this problem?

The basic point I have tried to make is, fading a song in or out early is easy as cake. Trying to just cut a section out of the center without skipping a beat and having all the instruments line up is not always possible. Is that correct?
