So I was looking for a very early post I once wrote in response to a subject on the general discussion forum. Something of an discussion about the Iraq war by students before the war started. A sort of forcast not in all ways but telling as to what it became and in opposition to the war and in general band wagon of the times posted by some students than? I was looking for this tonight.
Anyway, it's missing this post that was important to me, and perhaps historical as a discussion in general as to the why we went to war or what bill of goods everyone was sold for it. We in past posts leave off at May instead of what was it March 2003. What happened to the past posts and of interest to me tonight, my writing about my grandfather's intent to walk upon the German army flag that had the Swasticka in it's corner for the rest of his life as opposed to those coming home in taking a Iraqui flag home with them was something I would wish to re-read. It would seem some of the old posts to the fourm are missing. What happened to them and can they be brought back? Above my own interest in a past post, it would be curious to re-raise the question of those that were for the war that are still members of the forum, what they think now given their past posts on the subject. And to gain some insite of those of the forum more recent about the current situation given their similar age perhaps now during a somewhat different post war genration of conveying their thoughts on joining the military post 9/11 and the War in Iraq as was seemingly linked at the time. What happened to the pre-March 2003 General Discussion posts? |

I wish I still had those.. but they are gone forever. When we migrated the site to a new system back in March 03, we lost all of the original posts. There was some incredible content in those posts as well. That was when the site was on http://controlbooth.entirelydvs.com and unfortunately, there is no database backup from that period. I remember that discussion well, but not well enough, I'm afraid.

That explains it, thanks.
I expect that next time a backup would be a good idea before the move. All them past posts? Them was some good debates back than even if heated at times. |
