As a moderator, I'll sometimes edit the title of a thread to correct spelling or add clarity. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason as to whether this edit is retained in the header of each post. As an example, look at the post headers of this thread. Not a big deal, just curious. I can see it not changing posts before I made the title edit, but I would think all posts after would include the edit.

no, the titles aren't dynamically generated, the default for replies is:
Re: {first post title} But the user who is replying to a post has the freedom to change the title.
