tieing off a rope fall with load suspended ?

One would require a bit more information. I have a couple of ways of doing what I think you are looking for but one line does not help me to help you

make sure that whatever you are tying the rope to is extremely secure and that the load des not exceed the wieght rating of the rope. with out more detail its hard to give much advice.

Yes, it is possible to fall while tieing a rop with a load suspended from it. It's all about your center of gravity. Of course, writing something more than just a fragment drastically increases your chances too....
