Default Odd stories from the local news...

From the Seattle Times

"An ad on Craigslist for a used Honda Accord for sale in Tacoma seemed almost too good to be true. A Bellevue mother and son discovered that it was. Late Monday night, the mother and son responded to the online posting advertising the car for sale... When they arrived, there was no car, Tacoma Police Sgt. Mark Fulghum said. But the pair did find a man with a hammer, waiting to rob them. Fulghum said the prospective buyers in an earlier conversation with the seller had negotiated the sales price down from $5,000 to $3,600, and had agreed to pay in cash. As they met at the Waterfall Apartments and shook hands, about 10 p.m., the man pulled out the hammer and attacked, Fulghum said. The man struck the son twice in the head, and the mother once. Moments later, the attacker gave up and fled. Police later found his hammer nearby. Police do not believe the attacker lived at the complex."

Here's the punchline. A reader posted a comment in the little blog section attached to the story. "This can't be good for his seller's rating."

AWESOME! I know I'm a sick sick man, but I can't stop laughing.

Yeah I saw that. A Boston University Medical student killed a hooker and robbed another one. Medical student... I know that there are messed up freaks out there from all parts of society but somehow it's always more shocking when it's someone who really looks like they should have their act together.

You know, with all that planning, you would think they would have something better then a hammer to attack with.

While in the Boston situation the criminal was a very smart guy, that's clearly not required.

A hammer, If properly employed, can be an excellent offensive weapon. Last time I was in Vegas, when I cornered that tourist couple........ Ummm, Never mind.

So do I have to open up a new off topic sub category called "crime confessions"?

Craig's List at it again in my local news...

From The Seattle Times:
Quote:
Man tries to use Craigslist to lure a woman for sex, then kill her, police say

A Kent man has been arrested for investigation of attempted murder after trying to recruit a woman from Craigslist to have sex with and then kill.
By Mark Rahner
Seattle Times staff reporter

A Kent man has been arrested for investigation of attempted murder after trying to recruit a woman from Craigslist to have sex with and then kill.
The 24-year-old man posted an ad in the "Casual Encounters" section of Craigslist titled "A strange desire," according to Seattle police.
Undercover detectives who saw the ad e-mailed the man, who said that he was looking for someone who wanted to be killed but that he was also willing to kill an unwitting victim — and wanted to be paid for it, as well, police said.
The man had doubled his fee by the time he had exchanged about 30 e-mails with a vice detective,. He described what he wanted to do to her and arranged to meet her at a Seattle motel. Police staked out the motel and arrested the man when he arrived there Monday. He's being held in the King County Jail.

From http://www.backstagejobs.com/:
Quote:
A nationwide manhunt is underway for George Zinkhan, who shot and killed his wife and two other members of the Town and Gown Payers in Athens, GA on Saturday. Killed were Town and Gown Players Board President Marie Bruce, actor and scenic designer Tom Tanner, and scenic designer, scenic carpenter, and technical wizard Ben Teague. BackstageJobs.com asks for your help in finding this suspect.

George Zinkhan, pictured below, is believed to be driving his 2005 red Jeep Liberty with Georgia license plate AIX1376. He may be anywhere, but he does have family in Austin, TX. Anyone who spots Zinkhan or this vehicle is asked to call 911 immediately, and to not approach the suspect.
