They are wonderful and I'm very happy with my Classic Palette. As I've been saying for a while, until Element is finally available, there's nothing out there that's a better fit for the high school/church/small community theater market than the Strand Palettes.

If Strand continues to improve on their customer service end of things they may give ETC a real run for their money. Although the real losers will be the other smaller companies like Leprecon, EDI, Leviton, etc... Strand and ETC both give you way more console for your money.

Mike,

Did you take the backstage tour of the Lied Center? The TD said their stage is actually too big for most broadway tours--hence why they doubled up on legs and tormentors for most of the mainstage shows.

Going to hijack a bit....

Thats actually more common then you think. Most tours are designed for the venues they are going into. On a first national, they know they venues the show will be going into and design for them. After the first national, the show is usually scaled back to fit onto a 45' or so stage by 30' deep. Most road houses have a large valance they can bring in to close down the proscenium and have hard or soft legs that can close down the pro the rest of the way. One of the spaces I have worked in had a 45' tall by 65' wide pro. For the shows we built for the space, we used it all, 50' drops and all. For the shows we rented, we brought in the valance/legs to close it off.

Now, not all producers care how big the venue is.... in the case of one of my friends from college while on tour with Rent...
