Default Slackers in Tech

What do you do when you have a production to prepare for and the people in tech class just goof off in the green room or hide from the teacher?

Does this happen to anyone?

It really ticks me off because I want the production to be successful. Then I have to make sure none of the slackers of the class ruin the production.

Keep the students busy with small tasks in a limited amount of space so they are not up running around.

yeah, i think it happens every where but everyone is different in how they care about a production so just take a deep breath and think about it a minute ...not everyone has the same ideas as you have or wants the same thing that you want for the show..best thing to do is to breath and make sure that what ever you are doing is the best that it can be and i would have to say that you should just worry about your work and not any other person because they will get what is coming to them.

Have them mop the stage or wash the walls for a while and they will want to do other work.

GaryBuesy makes a very good point. I think another way you could keep the students busy is by letting them do stuff they are qualified for.

Default keeping busy...

When not preparing for upcoming plays or musicals, tech students can work on various projects or even learn various facts about theatre. Many first year students think tech is like a free ride, but actually you do learn a thing or two. Especially when it comes down to the wire having to work in a group to produce a scenic object for a play.

Im not going to say that every one is always workin but we all have or *fun times* Even the painters...... 8O yes there are many times where students should be more willing to help, but that must mean that some rules arent enforced as hard?? do i make a good point?

I agree that many people come into Tech looking for an easy A, but once they realize that they have a bunch of power to do stuff, they harness their talent to do at least a LITTLE bit more.
