Nice to hear Ship. I would hate to think that $100K of lamps were not inventoried.
I think you would receive better answers if you asked a more specific question.

Look at off the shelf library catalog systems - they make surprisingly good all purpose inventory systems and if you use the checkin/checkout features you can also track usage patterns on your equipment. Just issue a library card to each show, event, whatever you signout gear by...
