Smiley Storing spears and staffs

ok, anybody got ideas on how to store these things? I am working in our props storage area and trying to get it user friendly for the next guy and these oversizes spears are in the way. My boss wants to store them in bins verticaly and be able to just pull them out .

So does anyone out there have plans, pictures ect that i could look at for ideas?

Thanks folks

Ok, How long are the spears/staffs, and how tall is the room? What else is stored in the room? Where do you have room to fit these in the room? Are you looking for something permenant or just something to get you through a few months of holding onto these?

Spears range from 6 foot to 12 foot
The room is 13ish foot tall
Other stuff in the room is armor, shields, and other large akward items
and We need this to be perment

The only issue with storing them vertically is that if the are "proppy" and made from pine, fir etc. they will eventually warp. If at all possible get some carpet tubes, affix them to the wall horizontally and slide the spears in that way.

Horizontal storage is the way to go. get some vertical racks and bolt them to the wall.

What about getting some sonotube and putting a base on it. The small 12 inch diameter they sell at Home Depot would be perfect. You could mount several tubes along a wall. For your taller pieces mount some bungee's on the wall to support the tops.

Far away from curious hands, so they don't walk!

If you have any scrap PVC pipe, this worked well for me.
here is a quickie rendering of the design:

Basically, you cut 3" pieces of PVC at 45 degree angles, and than cap the bottom one, and attach to a wall, or board, or whatever. You can vary the size and distance between the segments to accomodate lots of long, skinny props, or extensions for paint rollers, pipes, etc.
I have a whole wall of them for storage. As well as on the backs of some doors for brooms and mops.

That's a good design. and the straighter you can stand then the less they'll warp over time. < mostly> Warpage depends on wood type, humidity, and amount of time their standing there. Oh and and at which they are resting in storage.

That picture is sort of what I was thinking except with the wider sonotube so that you can hold a lot more in each unit.
