Computer How do you keep things straight?

How do you keep your schedule straight? Palm Pilot? Datebook? A random mess of Post-it notes?

What are the most basic of tools I should bring with to a gig? I ALWAYS bring my Leatherman, C-wrench (I just bought a speed wrench today!) and an emergency set of blacks in case a load-in call turns into a crew call. I own a pair of gloves but rarely ever bring them to work.

I'm thinking of re-doing my resume. Does anyone care to share theirs with me to get an idea of what I should do? It's 4 pages long. Is that too much?

Thanks

IMO, resumes should be 2 pages tops.

Search organization on here.
Search resumes on here - quite a few good topics in the past.
There's also a topic on good tools for a gig and good gloves and even a thread on tech blacks.

I'd do all the searches now, but I'm in the middle of a massive set of VW renderings...so I'll do it tomorrow if no one beats me to it.

Yes, 4 pages is too long.

Send me a .doc file and I'll help you edit it down.

I know this is a hijack but what is the Crescent speed wrench like. It's just started turning up in this country and I think I might ask for one from Santa.

Edit: It may have been around for a while but I've only just noticed it.

Edit: Oh and I know I'm old but I use a diary. You know paper pages with dates on them and a pen. A pen is a thing like a stick but when you rub it on paper it makes a mark.

Logos, I can't find "Crescent Speed Wrench" via Google. Do you mean Lightspeed Wrench? Or standard 5/8"-3/4" ratcheting box wrench, slangly called "speed wrench"? Or something else? Techiegirly, which one did you buy, and do you like it?

And I use iCal on my MacBook for Calls and Appts.

I feel better now that someone posted their personal info too
I like your website. I want to do something that neat! They're probably going to pull the link within 10 minutes though
Thanks for the ideas

Calendars, calendars, calendars. I have more space on my hard drive, at work, dedicated to calendars than should be permited. I use Outlook, cause I have to. We used to have Now Contact/Up to Date which I will admit is originally a program written for mac, but which is far superior to Outlook. I lay out schedules, time lines and weekly goals all the time now. There is a program out there called Inspiration! , one of the directors that works for us does technical writing for the publisher and he gave me a copy. It is a great Linear thinking tool for non-linear thinkers. Microssoft has a project management suite called MSProject, but honestly, it's very complicated and geared much more to the constuction industry, it's expensive and I haven't had time to try and learn it.

This wrench. I owned one about 10 years ago but some jack ***** stole it. I bought this one @ Bulbtronics today in Hollywood. They're really nice people, very helpful. I highly reccommend them. This tool sells for $39.95 on Toolsforstagecraft.com if you cannot make it out to Hollywood
