Make your own adapters are a good project to understand how things work but given the super cheap prices found here: http://www.audiopile.net I'd say only do it if you need/want to (found the website in another thread not shamelessly advertising). Given the cheap price adapters probably aren't top quality but in comparison to homemade I bet they're passable.

They are extremely simple and made in quantity by a company with no marketing or advertising expenses.
The cables are excellent quality, and the cases on par with anything near the price range.

Sorry if that sounded over cynical. What I really meant was although there might be units out there that you could argue are better they will be at least as good as anything you are likely to be able to make yourself if not better.

Well. Adaptors. On the whole apart from IEC to three pin I actually can't think of many legal adaptors you would even want to build down here.
Even three pin 10 amp to 3 pin 15 amp opens a can of worms that you can't recan.
Unlike you we actually use the same plug for domestic and pro use. 3 pin. There are variations with some round pins that take you into 120v country but splitters to split 240 to 120 are frowned upon although we use them for parcans.
Even if you could come up with an adaptor that is both safe and legal you are required to have it built by a qualified electrician. in order to use it. It also requires a test and tag certificate.

Do you not use CeeForm connectors down there? What does your "normal" plug look like? Do you use Socapex-style multipin?

My apologies but yes we do use Cee form but largely only in touring environments and for three phase.
We use what are called weyland multi core connectors here rather than socapex. and yes we do build outlets from weyland to usually 6 standard three pin plugs.
I am either an idiot or there is something wrong with my setup because I never seem to be able to get any pictures uploaded except for the one i use for my ID but if you check this out this is our standard plug. http://users.pandora.be/worldstandar...ty.htm#plugs_i

I am missing really standard things but I can only claim to be really tired.

My end statement still stands, only a license3d electricain can legally build adaptors in this country.

Sync although what you describe may seem safe, it needs to be 12 gauge SOOW cable. Other styles of cable although heavy duty are not designed to carry the same load as a SO cable. If you put a two-fer on your home made cable and try to run two lights off of it you have exceeded the rating of your cable and now have a serious fire hazard (or a really good electric heater). Good cable isn't that expensive... especially when you consider the cost of replacing a burned down school. You should be able to get SOOW for about $1 a foot from your local electrical supply dealer, your local theater dealer, theater dealers on-line, (or send a private message to CB member BillESC and I'm sure he can get you what you want).

+2 for Audiopile.net. I'm very pleased with my 5-3 and 3-5 adapters. Used 2 of each today.
