Default commutator

An electrical switch that reverses the current direction in an electrical motor or generator. By reversing the current direction a steady rotating force is created. A commutator typically consists of a set of brushes fixed around part of the circumference of the rotating part of the motor. The source of current for the motor or electrical load for a generator is connected to the brushes
