Default continuity checker

Also, known as "continuity tester," an electrical test device that determines the integrity of a circuit. In its simplest form, may be wires, a battery and a light (or buzzer).

Toolstation > Automotive > Mechanics Tools

Almost every VOM will have either a setting for continuity, where it will beep or flash if a circuit is complete, or the resistance setting (Ohms, Ω) can be used. If an infinite amount of resistance, the circuit is open.

See the tutorials at Multimeter Tutorial - Learning about continuity.
