Authority Having Jurisdiction. - An organization, office, or individual responsible for enforcing the requirements of a code or standard, or for approving equipment, materials, and installation, or a procedure.

May include, but not limited to, Building Inspectors, Fire Marshals, Life-Safety Experts, and similar.

This is an NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) term, and therefore, an NEC (National Electrical Code) term.
