adapter

A device that changes size or style, from one to another.

Carpentry: 3/8" to 1/2" drive socket adapter.
Audio: RCA to XLR adapter.
Lighting: StagePin to Edison adapter. Male end specified first.
Wardrobe: One of them little thingys in that hold the presser foot on.
Video: see Audio. They have what you want anyway.
