Default shin-buster

An instrument mounted on either a floor base or a side boom approximately a foot off the ground. Commonly used in side light for dance pieces. The term "shin buster" comes from the fact that at that height, its at the perfect location for a person to walk smack into and the talk and thus, impact their shins.

Or, light their shins, if they are on stage dancing.

Synonym: shin-kicker.
