Default rheostat

Colloquially, refers to any single mount dimmer, similar to that found in almost every dining room in America, which are usually triacs. Miriam Webster's definition: a resistor for regulating a current by means of variable resistances, tends to indicate only a resistance dimmer. See also, potentiometer.
