    Default Stage Line SL260

Hello all. I am going to be renting a Stageline SL260 for a concert I am heading up lighting for this May and was wondering if anyone knew if a light plot of one existed. I can make on from dimensions and such from their website but before I do that I figured I'd just check on here first (Something from the SL250 would probably work too). I know this is kinda a shot in the dark because its not something I think many people deal with but if someone by chance had the file that would be awesome! Thanks.

I don't have an actual plot from a 250, haven't used a 260 yet. What we normally do is hang a single 12 inch truss and hand PARs on it. Depending on the show we may put a couple of abuse on the downstage. Upstage it depends on whether we are using the rainproof skin. We will do the same thing upstage if we aren't using the skin. If we are then we take corner blocks and bolt them to double hung truss and stand it on end. We sometimes use twelve inch truss on plates for movers or LEDs. Budget and available space decides what we use.
The arms downstage won't let you use more than a 32 ft truss. I believe they are 500 lb points and you really want to make it as light as possible because there is a fair amount of bounce when you raise it.

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking for. SL260's don't usually come with lights attached. I've never used a 260 but have built and hung lights on 250's several times. I understand the only difference is a little bit of size and capacity. You can rig directly to the structure as it's 2" pipe. Although, there was one instance where we showed up with cheeseboros on everything only to find that the pipes were all square. I'm guessing this is an older design and probably not an issue with the 260's, but just wanted to mention it.

What lighting are you wanting to put on it? You can do a 120k show rigged with motors and double hung, or you can hang a couple hundred movers directly to the provided pipes. Dream it and build it, man!

I know they don't come with lights, that my job haha. I was just asking for a blank VW file of the trailer so I can plot out things and see where I want to put stuff before "game day". I have checked out all the weight limits and what not of the roof, pipes, floor sections etc. Why would it come with square tube truss? thats a little cruel of them. Did you just hang and pray? I am gonna be having 48k downstage of PARs and then ill have 12 led wash movers upstage. The rental company gave me a quote with Elation moving lights. I guess it wont be too bad for flash and trash, kinda wish they wereVLs or MAC 101s, personally.

I gotchya. I wouldn't worry too much about plotting that rig, it sounds straight forward enough. Address and label the fixtures ahead of time and you'll save a lot of time on site. What Elations? What kind of music? Console?

Yeah I mainly wanted to plot things out so I can assign addresses easier (im a visual guy). The elations are the Design Wash LED 60s. Obviously not the best but I have never used elations so I have no idea how they perform. There will be three acts. Two of them are not so well known hip hop artists and the last one is a band called Every Avenue who is more towards my liking and a little better known. The guys at the rental company specced me either a Whole Hog or an Avo Pearl. I kindly requested the Avo, though I have never used a Whole Hog, I have heard horror stories about them.

48k from the front seems like a lot unless you are ding cover washes of multiple colors. I usually just do double or triple washes from the front and do most of the color from the rear. A 260 isn't that big for all that wash. Personal preference of course.

Yeah I am going to have multiple color washes from the front and might pull some of the pars for maybe a one color back wash. This concert will be at night so I want this thing to been seen from space haha

I don't think 48k is too much lighting for an SL250. I would do at least 24 no color (or diffusion) and two other colors. I used to own a single D Wash LED 60. I bought it to see how I would like it and decided to go a different route. It's a nice light, very bright, and capable of some decent colors, especially with the white LEDs as well. If you're using haze I would go with a spot, but if no haze the Elations will do a nice job. Are you familiar with the Pearl? I think it's a better choice than the Hog for busking, only because I like to have lots of handles I can grab. Everything is right in front of you, which makes more sense to me. Have fun!

I am not that familiar with the Pearl but have played with it a little bit. I agree with you, bishopthomas, having the capabilities to have everything in front of me on bump keys is what I want to go for. Not sure about haze yet, but I doubt it will happen. Next year when I do this again ill be able to get more toys. This is the first year the university is putting on a big outdoor concert like this for Winchester Virginia's big Apple Blossom Fstival so they are a little cautious with how much they shell out but if this year's is successful ill probably have a lot more money to work with. Oh yeah, its gonna be tons of fun! Thanks!
