Default Bird Nests and Stage Lights Don't Mix.

You'd think I would have encountered this problem sooner given that I've been the ME at an outdoor venue for twelve years, but strangely enough, I've never had this problem before.

Birds are building nests in my ungelled lights!

    My solution?

    It's working so far.

Or you could turn on the lights full for about 30 minutes.

Have yourself some eggs before the show.

Would that possibly count as pyro, and need special permissions?????

I did end up with eggs splattered all over the apron when I fired up my Autoyokes for a rehearsal two weeks ago.

Now we finally have a use for R00, keeps out the birds

I wonder if Apollo has a gel called "Bird B'Gone", if not they should.

I had a same problem, but with mayflies when I was lighting a bridge. It makes a pretty amazing bug barbecue when you've got so many dead mayflies piled into the front of an arc par that no light comes out. Took FOREVER to clean those lenses...

Ever try to run a followspot during a mayfly hatch? It's really hard to hold a tight waist-to-head shot when you're getting crawled on by a couple hundred insects.....!

My home town is on the lake and during mayfly season there's always at least one crash die to slippery mayfly gut covered roads. I guess looking on the bright side is that when there's a lot it means the lake is in good shape, but the smell when they are cooked is nasty. Then again the smell normally is nasty too

For a second I was like, "what's a mayfly?" but then I realized I know them as fish flies. Yeah, they suck.

I live in Southern California. Insects aren't that much of an issue here.

I did see a gopher snake at the bottom of my stairs when I walked out the door this morning though.

I bet that's why you haven't seen any gophers. Pituophis catenifer catenifer. It appears they eat birds and eggs too, so encourage them in your lighting positions. A whole new meaning to "FOH snake".
Good authors too who once knew better words, Now only use four letter words, Writing prose.
