Default Focus Palettes by group (EOS)

So I've been borrowing some Elation Design Spots, some Martin 518 pro's, and 2 I-Cues, from a friend and playing around with Focus Pallets for them. This questions is more generic and about how the ETC Element (eos) line handles them. I each unite type in a 1 group each. I've set a number of focus Pallets but where I ran into some issues was in trying to avoid programing a pallet for one group into another pallet for a different group. In other words i would program 6 pallets. DSpros in a line across DS, CS and US each pallet being 1, 2, 3. then with the 518's being in a Group clustered C, DSR, DSL as 4, 5, 6.

Except that as i'm doing the pallets and finish up Pallet 3 with the DSP, they are not captured in that positions as part of the Pallets for the 518's in 4, 5, and 6. Does that make sense.

I guess the question is; Is there a way to have a focus, or any pallet only capture the parameter values from a number of selected channels or groups only? And if not any suggestions on how to keep the other groups and fixtures parameters from getting caught up other pallets. Or am I just over thinking something simple.

I believe that if you select the channels or group that you want in a focus palette, and then record you should be able to record just those selected fixtures:
    1 [Thru] 15 [Record] [Focus Palette] 1
    or
[Group] 1 [Record] [Focus Palette] 1

The key is to make sure you DO NOT hit enter after typing in channel or group numbers.

Firstly, if you have unintentionally stored information for channels you don't wish to include in a palette, you can go into blind, make the palette active in the blind window, and remove it by typing [GROUP] [x] [AT] [ENTER].

Secondly, unless the command line includes channel or group specification in it, any data that is manual (in red on the screen) and appropriate to the palette will be recorded or updated. To mask the recording, type [CHANNEL or GROUP] [x] [RECORD] [FOCUS PALETTE] [y]. The same can be done for updating them.

What everybody has said is true. This is called selective storing and can be done with any selection and any record target, e.g., [1] [Thru] [2][0] [+] [Group] [6] [Cyan] [Gobo 1] [Pan] [Record] [Preset] [4][5].

Very close. With Record, any active data (cue, non-exclusive submaster, or manual) of the correct type for the palette will be recorded. To only grab manual data, use Record Only on Eos, Ion, or Gio. Element only has the Record option at present, so a selective store would be the best approach.

Update works much in the way you describe - only manual changes are eligible.

It should also be noted that no matter what information is stored in the palette, when you want to use it, it will only be applied to fixtures you select. So, if you want channel 10 to be a focus palette 1, you can send only that fixture to that palette even if channels 1-9 have information stored in palette 1.

So, you could have channel 1 at FP1, chan 2 at FP 2, and so on.

Therefore, it doesn't really matter if you have data in a palette that you never actually use. You may never have your 518's at FPs 1-3, but it won't mess them up to have data for them recorded in those palettes.
