Default Needing some help tracing a quirky issue on the Strand Palette VL

    Hey guys,
For a while now, we have noticed, that when programing a Balley Hoo on our Macs using the effects engine within our Pallet VL Console, we noticed that even though the mac's may not be programed within the next cue, when running the next que the heads of the Mac's still end up moving as if its still in the balley hoo although the shutters are closed.
Orginally we thought that it had something to do with using shift FX buttons vs Alt FX on the console, when recording the balley hoo, but now were not so sure.
It appears to be random which makes it harder to trace. Some times it does it when programming the balley hoos some times it doesn`t.
Its almost as if the Balley hoo get tracked into the next cue only the shutter is closed and just the head is moving.
Also please keep in mind that the Console is set to track only mode.
Were kind of scratching our heads on this,
Was wondering if anyone else had a similar issue,
    Thanks,

Sounds to me like it's doing exactly what it's been told being in tracking mode.

    Sorry I meant Cue Only,
The console itself by default is a tracking, console, but were using it in Cue only mode,
Everything programs as it should except this weird glitch, that we can`t re-created with any consistency to narrow down whats going on.Sometimes it does it when youre programing and sometime it doesn`t.

    A few things to check:

Make sure you don't have any weird delay times on the Macs. Also make sure that there isn't like a second cue list or macro doing it.

Secondly, check a tracksheet of the show (top "display" menu) to make absolutely sure that you aren't having a tracking issue. I know that it is in "Cue-Only", but maybe something weird is causing it to turn off.

That's all I can think of with that information without viewing the show file.

This is going to sound really basic, but when you are programming the cue after the one using the effect, you are stopping the effect rather than just recording the intensity of the units at 0, aren't you? If you have whatever the Palette equivalent of "Auto Move While Dark" switched on (Mark on an ETC console, not sure what the Palette calls it), then in the cues where this doesn't happen, the AMWD could be over-riding the effect and moving the heads to their next position. On cues where it does happen, it could be that the units aren't used in the cue following the one where they black out but keep moving, so they're not being told to stop moving until the next AMWD cue comes along.

Moving light effects are always tracking, even when the console is in cue only mode. When you record the effect, (or after) set the effect duration to “active cue”. That will keep it in the cue you record it in. If you have already recoded it, change it to “active cue” and update the cue.
