Default Consumer battery powered RGB LED lights or strips

Hello, I tried searching here and found a few threads, but found nothing for what I'm hoping exists. Googleturns up plenty of results, but after a few minutes of looking... has nothing to match the simplicity I'm looking for. (still looking though)

I work at a venue that basically has lights everywhere you look whether it's our actual light show or ambient LEDs tucked away for effect.

I want to get some LEDs underneath a table to have the same effect as people who put LEDs under their cars so the ground glows. They do not need to be DMX, but I'd like to be able to change the color in whatever fashion the product requires (RGB). The whole point is after I put the lights under the table, no cords or cables are necessary. Hoping to power with 9v battery, AA, AAA or whatever is consumer friendly. I'll take on the rechargeable battery maintenance, no problem. Would love to avoid doing this with X-mas/String type lights so it looks a little cleaner if someone were to look under the table at them.

Am I dreaming?...or maybe you know exactly what I'm looking for.

    Thanks for your time!
    -Monty

Go here: Blizzard Lighting - LED Par Cans

MAP pricing ranges from $ 199.00 to $449.00 depending on the wattage of the diodes. For your application the Puck RGB Unplugged should be all you need.

Thanks for introducing me to those, they are cool... may work for other future endeavors. The tables are small, and when not in use have foot stools stored under them, there isn't much clearance.

Do strip LEDs come in a generic and compact battery configuration?

They make 12 rgb strips for cars with wireless remotes, I know deal extreme has some, I'm sure spark fun has them too, as well as tons of car sites.

That's a great point, I mentioned cars in my posts but I didn't even pursue car setups...thanks for that!

    Perhaps something like this?
RGB LED DMX Decoder & RF Radio Frequency Remote Controller
It is a dmx controller to use with led tape, with an RF remote. The RGB tape comes in 5 meter lengths and can be cut to desired smaller sizes(in 10cm increments)

I have a few of these. Not sure if they would be bright enough for OP's application, really depends on the height of the table I guess or what the LED's are going to be projecting onto, as well as ambient lighting in the room. They are brighter than most RGB strips/tape of this sort of quality but they aren't exactly theatrical bright. You would also need to develop your own power/control system as they come as just straight strips that run off of 12V.

You would just need a small 12v battery out of a ups, or there are tons of other ways to provide a 12v source.

But you still need a way to control them... If you just solder the wires sticking out of the strip onto the battery leads you're only going to get white...

You would use the wireless remote to control them

    Digital RGB LED Strip tutorial

There is a series of Digital 5V LED RGB Strips that exist that can be controlled by an arduino console (meaning each LED is individually addressable). You can also go with analogue LED RGB strips, where the whole strip is treated as one color. These can be powered by a series of batteries up to 12V that are regulated by the controller down to 5V. These strips are around $30/m and can be cut to length combined with the arduino controller ($30ish) plus batteries or PSU. Can you tell I am working on something similar at work?
If you want, you could go with a manual switch in the table or go with a wireless interface. apparently you can go wireless DMX without too much effort

Edit: try looking at Disco/Rave/Club costume supply as well

You could look into renting fixtures for short term purposes - there are many wireless/battery LED fixtures on the market that would satisfy your needs. Our company rents out Hanson LED units that are slim, lightweight units, and the charge lasts 8-12 hours at max power, much longer if you are only using one set of LED's. Keep your eyes open - this technology is getting better as time moves on.
Happy to be turning lights on and off since 1998.

You might take a look at http://www.ecolightled.com/home
The offer DMX controlled systems or you might even be able to use one of the IR wireless systems they offer.
