Default Using cat5 to power and run dmx signal in an xlr chain.

I've worked with a band in the past that had a guy make LED bars for them for their light rig.

I know how to make the units with the dmx controller built in that allows RGB. The part that looses me is the cat5.
It looks that they had a hub side stage. The LED bars were plugged into cat5 and the cables ran to a box and in the back of the box side stage has a 3pin in for the rest of the signal.

Anyone know how I could make what I'll call a 'hub'? Where I could run and xlr from the snake(dmx signal out) to a hubs in that allows you to run back out to a xlr chain and have multiple cat5 outs?

Really the question is more likely how to get the power since the bars are powered through the cat5 cable as well as getting the dmx signal.

    Thanks.

Sounds like a custom system to me. The "hub" as you refer to it could well have been a 3 channel dimmer, with the cat5 carrying power only. I know you can buy stand alone modules that do this, I can't think of any brands off the top of my head though.
