I concur. We already have a thread (probably the longest on CB) for people to post photos of shows they have worked on. This includes theatre, concerts, events, etc. Also, just for consideration, it is important to only post photos of shows you have worked on or do not pose any copyright issues.

Agreed, (forget how to do the sticky) that pictures of someone else's art without the express permission from them is an incorrect thing to post on this public forum. Sorry and would be cool - remember the announcement before most shows also. But for all intensive purposes cannot be done and should not be done. Sorry.

i would think videos would be better to get ideas for concert lighting. there is a thread already discussing examples.

I would agree with this. If, and only if, the source is cited. That might include designer, (all applicable - lighting, set, director.) This also should include photographer, the location, the show, the show's author. Quite a list to accurately cite.

This is besides the fact that there are a lot of copyright issues involved in posting photos. As has been mentioned there are many people who need to be given a credit, and as far as I know there are not too many performing groups (bands, theatre, entertainment, etc.) who actually allow recording of their shows. In the theatre world you can get in trouble just for having a camera offstage in the wings, let alone taking photos. Please know that I am not opposed to the fact that there is a lot that we can learn by what other people have done. It is just important to make sure that you protect yourself and ControlBooth.

That's not giving fair credit where credit is due. To do it right, credit needs to be given where it is proper. And since this is an education forum, the "teachers" -- even if they don't know they are doing it -- need to be made known.
