Default Putting effects on faders on an ETC ION

Does anyone know if it's possible to put an effect onto a fader on an ETC Ion? I found a shortcut to doing it by making separate cue lists then putting one cue with that effect on the cue and then assign it to a fader by hitting both bump buttons at the same time. It just doesn't seem to work that well... it is quite confusing to use them during a live concert. Lol. Thanks!

I suspect it will do something like:

from Expression_3_v3.1_User_Manual.pdf
Quote:
Flash
Flash sets the selected channel’s level to 100 percent if the channel is
currently at a level at or below 50 percent. If the channel’s level is above
50 percent, Flash sets it to zero. Levels set by Flash are only maintained
while the key is pressed. For example, press [Channel] [5], then press and
hold [S8], Flash, to set channel 5 to either 100 or zero.

Useful for finding a particular channel, and similar to what many consoles term "highlight," which I think is also on the list.

The ETC Users Forum has many posts about this very subject, including many useful work-arounds .

As of right now your method is the only on that will really work. According to Anne V (who finds her way around CB from time to time) the effects on subs will be a part of the 1.5 software. Expected in March.

Look here for the rest of the info LINK

1.5 is scheduled for release in March. This is an optimization release .... meaning that the focus was on rewriting code to improve GUI performance. Having said that, it adds (among other things):

Dimmer feedback

RDM device config and monitoring

Effects on subs

Revised table views.

Zooming functions on all displays.

Split playback status display with lock functions.

Use of Label key to toggle between palette/preset labels and data.

Setting scrollers by frame number

Setting gel match from the command line

Resizable columns

External trackball support

Offline - windows that can be minimized

Autopaging in the table view

Expand table views horitzontally or vertically

Playback status display flag for cues with dark moves (excluding marks)

A "next/last move tab for channel about

Optional command line on the playback status display

Toggle between HSB and CMY/RGB color settings.

Next/last following current flexichannel state.

[at] [at] to set a light to full and self terminate

[sneak] [sneak] to sneak only the NPs of selected channels and self terminate

Group direct selects additive (just like channel direct selects)

Direct selects grey out when selected channels have no content for them.

Extended copy to/recall from functions.

Sneak subs from the command line

Support for multiple intensity fixtures

Flash

Cue Level Intensity Block

Latching fader control button for Ion

Storing to submasters autoplays back if sub is at full.

More granularity for clearing record targets

Quick save

Color print options for .pdfs

That help? :-)

Hello everyone, it has been a while! Does anyone know if/when version 1.5 is coming out? Or does version 1.4.5 actually contain this feature? Thanks!

The latest word around here is that it will come out when it will come out... Possibly somewhere around the end of April. Effects on subs should most definitely be on there. Also it is my understanding that we should keep an eye out for the iRFR iphone app to come out sometime around 1.5's release

Ok thanks for the quick reply! That is awesome about the remote control! I have an iTouch, hopefully it'll work over WiFi. Thanks for the response. Marshall
