Default Electro-Controls...

Greetings!!! Anyone out there have any Electro Control fixtures, accessories, etc. they would like to donate or charge a very small fee for to a public school? We (I) would be willing to pick up within a couple hundred miles of Indianapolis. Or we could look at shipping if it is worth it. I know how terrible this stuff is compared to today's standards but the powers that be aren't going to buy me any new fixtures so I'm trying to do something to get more light!!!

Thanks in advance!

While I would love to tell you this is going to work I REALLY doubt it (even old Electro Controls gear). If it's useful, it will be kept. Every theater I know keeps their old lighting gear until it absolutely will not work anymore.

If you can find some money, contact the local rental shops and see if they have any old beat up gear to sell. You can always try e-bay and the theater resellers Gearsource and Solaris.

As for finding money...

Look into grant opportunities. Write a grant about alternative energy sources on stage and try to get someone to buy you a couple thousand dollars of Neo-Neon LED Par cans. I was able to acquire nearly $100,000 in grant money over 5 years teaching high school.

I was also able to scavenge a lot of money in the spring from other departments. Their money turns use or loose. Find every dime you can that others aren't spending and ask them to give it to you. A few dollars here and there and you can buy some old PAR cans.

Finally, CB doesn't allow selling. So if anyone does feel the desire to sell you something at a really low price please take that up via Private messaging.

Just curious as to why you feel you need Electro Controls gear (unless perhaps you're trying to keep an existing inventory alive). Altman lighting equipment is much more common and available.

Gafftaper makes excellent suggestions. I would also recommend contacting colleges and universities in your area. Many of them, at one time, had fixtures by Capital Lighting and Kliegl Bros., most of which is certainly due for replacement.
