Control/Dimming - iPod RFU for Express?

Hey,
I was just wonder, is there a Iphone/Itouch App that would work as a RFU with our Express. We are were think of buying a RFU, until we saw the price. Almost all of our crew members have an Iphone.

Doesn't look like it will work with an express, but perhaps if you have an emphasis server running

For the record, Express/Emphasis is now completely obsolete as ETC has broken its ties with Cast, who designed the software for it. The iRFR app posted will work with all of ETC's current generation of consoles, which includes Eos, Ion, Element, Congo, and Congo Jr. With only Express, your options would be to upgrade to (most likely) Ion, or purchase an RFU.

There is a iphone/ipod touch app out called Luminair 1.5. It costs $100 and you need to have a Art-net node for and wifi access. You can set up faders and cues that will control any dmx light or fixture including moving lights and color changers. They don't recommend running a show off of it but I have done that. It is frustrating when trying to set up faders and it crashes. Once I figured out the set up now I can plug in my DMX and wireless access and I can go to work. I would recommend a sport band or otterbox case to help protect against dropping your ipod/iphone. Enttec has a dmx to ethernet that can run artnet for about $250 and the app comes with a coupon for 25% off that device if you by by 6/30/2009.

This is a bit out there, but may work, I am yet to try this, but is on my list of things to do before the end of the week.

We have a Zero88 Jester in our rehearsal space, focusing is annoying as it has no RFR. Enter Nick's brain... A while ago, I did a show with it, where the chase had to go to the beat of the music. I stole a pedal from a muso's keyboard, and plugged it into the audio in on the desk, the idea was you put your audio feed into it, and it works out the beat, every time it finds a beat, it advances. But this also works, with the sustain pedal, meaning lighting becomes a musical, as well as artistic and scientific. This lead me to thinking today, when myself and the other main lighting guy franticly tried to get up a basic rig in time for an event that afternoon. Here was my idea... I found an old wireless mic system in the store room, as audio doesn't know it exists, I think lighting has first dibs on it. As well as having a lapel mic, big bulky wireless, it also has a wireless guitar jack input... Meaning the guitarist won't trip over his amp lead (if you haven't seen a guitarist do this when trying to be a rockstar, you don't know what you are missing out on) we have a new one now, so this was obviously the old one, but my thinking lead me to the conclusion, a pedal connected to the wireless guitar transmitter thinggy, and then the receiver hooked into the desk, would allow me to do the chase sequences from a remote location, or have each light in its own part of a chase, for example, the chase would chase 1-however many fixtures you have, advancing each time you hit the pedal, so cycling through your channels.... Remotely. This is a bit out there, but if you simply want a RFR to focus on stage, then this will do the job, at a fraction of the price if you can get an old unit. And it's wireless. Next I need to make wireless MIDI.....

This may not do what you wanted Ben, but I hope this is useful to someone with a console that doesn't have any way to remotely control it.
