That's definitely an interesting article. I was wondering whether people would get around to trying to improve filaments instead of just going for other technology (CFLs and LEDs) My favorite bit has to be the last part here:

I remember when that legislation first came out and the incandescent bulb was supposedly on its way out the door; and when I started seeing more and more CFLs on store shelves in Lowes and the local hardware store.
