You can give ETC a call, but I don't think they will give it to you. You can try though.... 1.800.688.4116

It is possible though software like OPHcrack to be installed onto a usb using freeware called "uNetBootin" so it is possible to brute force is, but I cirtainly wouldn't recommend it, as you might end up screwing up your console, and that's not good.

By the way, introduce yourself in the New Members section.

Whatever it is that you are thinking would be really cool to do if you just had the password... don't do it.

This is a Light board. Not your friend's home computer. It has a job to do and it does that job very well. Anything you would do in the windows half of the computer would only make it more difficult for it to do it's job running lights.

To the ETC people reading this: Would hacking the windows section of an Ion void the warranty?

Your talking about the password that will get you into XP? That password is covered by a nondisclosure agreement.

Why do you need it anyway?

Yep it can definitely void your warranty.

What do you want to do?

I will reiterate what was said before, this is a Light board. Not a standard computer. There are specialized drivers loaded as well as standard windows things removed from the OS. There is nothing that you as an end user can do in the windows shell that will do anything but mess your new light board up and render it unusable.

Also, I bet explorer.exe is not loaded on there. Explorer.exe is the GUI (graphical user interface) for Windows. So even if you could get the password it probably would not do you much good.

johnmanECT,

What exactly are you trying to accomplish by logging in to the admin settings? Perhaps we could help you a different way if you have a specific problem you are trying to solve...

I actually don't remember the reason I was looking for it, but it wasn't to try and install 'fun stuff'. Thanks for the legitimate answer zac850.

Thanks for the warnings from everyone else I guess...I've been formally trained on the console and already know there are no easter eggs for it so no worries there. Plus I'm not trying to use a lighting console as my personal computer just to clarify.

Another question: do any of you guys know if it's possible to patch a fixture as an IP address or control a specific IP? I'd like to control a projector with ethernet with it if possible. If not, would getting an I/O Gateway and doing it via serial be the best way to accomplish this?
