I currently have a smaller nsi 2 scene board with the DMX upgrade. However after using chamsys with the enttec open dongle I really want to start using it. However I will be purchasing the pro dongle as everyone on here seems to highly recommend. I plan to still use my nsi board, through the DMX-in port on the dongle, a sort of cheap wing.
What I'm wondering is will the chamsys recognize the NSI? Will I be able to bring up channels 1-20 on the nsi board at different levels and then edit movers/leds on chamsys and record that as a cue on chamsys so when played back without manually controlling the NSI I will get conventional channels? Will channels adjusted on the NSI be noted in the chamsys level sheet? Thanks Guys (and gals)! |

From my talks with the Chamsys people I understood that it should be possible to use simple DMX desks as fader wings, you can even make macros that will switch what set of channels is being controlled by the wing (though they thought that might be a bit complicated).
You should also be able to use it as a 'remote' setting the Chamsys to run certain actions when it get specific values on specific channels etc. I never did these things myself so I can't promise you it'll work but that is what I understood from them what should be possible... |

I saw that in the manual but I think you have to have one of their dongles. Has anyone tried it with the Enttec pro, I know I saw someone mention this on another thread sometime.

You cannot use DMX in through the Enttec with the Chamsys, all that is available is one universe out though the Enttec. If you want those input functions you need to buy the Chamsys dongle.

Hi Everyone,
The MagicQ software is free for everyone to download and use - 18 universes of incredibly powerful control, and you don't have to pay us a penny for it! Because of this, we do need to make our money somewhere so until you have a piece of our hardware connected over USB, we limit the options that would allow you to use third party control surfaces. With a MagicQ console, you can connect up a slave desk over Art-Net and use it to control the 24 playbacks on Wing 1. You can do this on MagicQ PC with a piece of our hardware (either an interface or wing) connected over USB, but you can only control the first ten playbacks on Wing 1. Unfortunately we don't support DMX input from third party dongles, so it needs to be done over Ethernet. Best regards, Matt Lemon ChamSys Ltd |
