Control/Dimming - Colortran Encore Disk Drive replacement

I have a Colortran Encore whose disk drive is no longer writing successfully. The original drive was a Sony MPF 920-1. Does anyone know what a current replacement drive would be for this board?

I am pretty sure that a floppy drive is a floppy drive. I am pretty sure that they just work, so just pull one out of an old computer and call it a day.

You would think, but when I replaced the one in my old Encore I had three drives that worked in a computer. Only one would work in the console. It doesn't hurt to try if you have one laying around. Just make sure it's a 1.44 MB, not a 750 KB.

I thought I should post an update.

I picked up a couple of used drives at my local PC Recycle store ( at one dollar each ). I also picked up a can of air for $6.99

Went to the theatre. Blasted the heck out of the floppy - and things are working again.


When things quiet down I suspect we may replace the drive - but cleaning fixed it for now.
