Alright guys, this is my first time ever to post on this website, and I need help, bad.
We have an ETC Express 48/96 at school with an "ETC Link" cable running from the board to the port in the wall to the dimmers. My problem is that the cable we are using currently is too short for where we want to move the board. I've looked all over the web and cannot find anything, maybe I don't know what I'm looking for, whatever the problem is, I'm here asking you. Does anyone know the name of the cable, and if so, where to buy it? All I really know is that it has 6 pins, and appears to be an XLR cable, but I could be completely off.. I'm not sure if this helps any, but we are also using a 5 pin DMX cable, but I have already found that on a website. I just can't find this second one we need. Any help, any whatsoever, would be greatly appreciated. |

You're right, it is an XLR cable, a 6-pin XLR cable. Contact your local theatre supply house in your area and they should be able to help you. If this is a temporary move don't worry about extending your ETCLink cable. If its permanant you want to. For more information check out page 257 of the manual.
Also welcome to the booth feel free to stop by the new member section and tell us more about yourself.

ETCLink is a communications protocol for the Express which provides extensive feedback from the dimmers to the console about the overall state of the rack as well as about individual dimmers. You should just be able to use a standard 6-pin XLR cable, it's not some specific cable made by ETC. Your local dealer might be able to help you out, or you can try Production Advantage or any of the other online sources for gear.
EDIT: Grog beat me to it.

The protocol only uses pins 1,2,5 and 6. You could make your own cable with four conductor cbale and two XLR6M connectors.

PsycoEmu, maybe you can trade with Soxred93, who started this thread http://www.controlbooth.com/forums/l...ink-cable.html just yesterday.
Here's one site that lists ETClink cables for sale in lengths of 10', 15', 25', and 50'.
