Film people: "Joe-Leko"?

Saw this:

A Source-4 Joker HMI ("joe-leko") would do a good job for that projector beam effect...

on the cinematography.com forum, and wondered how common the term was.

I've heard of third-party HMI (ETC only offers an HID version) conversion kits for the SourceFour (see this thread, also ARRI has one), but not this particular manufacturer: K5600 Joker 400 Bug-A-Beam Adapter Mount for Source 4 - Joker-Bug 400W HMI Par System.

Never heard of it, but films is so different then theatre and has terms like "Baby Baby" for a Mole Richardson fresnel, and "Red Heads" for some type of open faced unit, among hundreds of other terms.

Maybe ask this over on The LightNetwork. Kelly Britt and a few other NY IA film local 52 gaffers/electricians hang out there and probably had to answer it on the 52 test.

I use Joker's all the time...

They are great for outdoor gobo projection! Really punches through everything.
