Hi everyone...new guy here, hoping to learn from you all. I just bought 2 Colorstrips and a DMX controller for my band, and I'm trying to figure out how to program it. I've been able to program the individual colors into scenes, but I have not been able to figure out how to fade scene to scene so it is not a sudden thing, or how to assign each color to a fader so I can do it manually. When programming my scenes, I've used the fade time and speed controllers, but they don't seem to do anything...can these units not be faded/dimmed? Can anyone help? I've got the Obey 40 as my controller.
Thanks! |

I am not familiar with your controller but the colorstrip has a few oddities.
In order to control the rbg the value of channel one MUST BE BETWEEN 210 and 219 IF IT IS NOT, then you have NO rgb control So you need to set Channel 1 to say 215 and then channel 2 will control red, 3 control green and 4 control blue. IF for some reason you are reducing the value on channel 1 during your fade then you will loose all control. IF for instance you have an a and b fader mode that reduces the values on bank a and then replaces them with the values on bank B it will not work since the system will reduce the value of channel 1 below 210 during the fade Chauvet should have had a menu mode that locked the colorstrip into RGB mode and NOT relied on a small range value of channel 1 (IMHO) Some DMX consoles have not been able to control the colorstrip if the dmx data stream is transmitted two quickly. It is the fixtures that are in non-compliance with the standard, not the consoles. See also the thread: http://www.controlbooth.com/forums/l...olorstrip.html.

I have had unfortunate dealings with the Colorstrips with respect to dimming. Unlike what other posters are saying, my experience shows they NEED a refresh rate of 30 or more. My Fat Frog will only provide a refresh rate of 24, and will not dim the colorstrips smoothly. If however I use a Martin Freekie (refresh rate 32), they dim quite smoothly.

Fades are created using both the Fade and the Speed faders. If the Speed fader is set to 5 seonds and the Fade fader is set to 0 seconds. Every 5 seconds the Bank or Chase will bump to the next scene. If both the Speed and Fade faders are set to 5 seconds, the change will be a cross fade.
