Default Odd gel frames

Our community theater was gifted with two cyc lights, but only half of the gel frames. They are a two piece design..like two trays that snugly fit together.

The dimensions are 4 3/4 x 6 3/4. Anyone know where i might find some?

Sure they are not 5 3/4x6 3/4?

The two part frames are for R40 striplights that can hold both a rondel and a gel. Give you local lighting company a call and they should be able to set you up with some. If you don't have a local lighting company, BMI or Production Advantage should be able to set you up.

Love them style of frame, (reverse them for gel instead of roundell) Ibid Altman probably still has them available, otherwise if it is an off size, any welding shop should be able to make them up for you cheap.

If of the ability, the hardest cut is the center hole, after that Klien just came out with some 6" seamers and or a good bench vise and hammer could sufficiently fill the bill. Recently started using sheet metal hole saw bits which are different than normal hole saw bits. Such a bit if available for the hole size you need or perhaps an adjustable size bit would with some sanding and edge treatment work well for the center hole. (Note on the hole saw bits - a pilot hole is very necessary.) If able to and able to do the proper tools to make such parts I wouldn't view it as too difficult a project.

Just call your local theater dealer. Shouldn't be a problem to find. I had a situation a few years ago where I had some really odd sized frames in my strip lights. My Dealer couldn't find replacements so I purchased some hard paper gel frames (fire retardant of course), and cut them to fit my needs. Again you local dealer should be able to hook you up.

Do you need help locating a dealer?

Altman R40-Combo, Combo Color Frame 5-3/4"x6-3/4" 2-piece, List Price $4.75/ea USD.

If I had a nickel for each time I've been cut/scraped/scratched by a rusty one of these...
