I have an iPro I would like to try to use to project a daytime NYC skyline image (from Rosco's standard library), if possible. I know little in the way of projection. First question is what type/color of surface is generally used? This is a very low budget show, and right now the backdrop is a black painted wall. Will that work, or do we need something white? There is no cyc, scrim, etc., nor a curtain for that matter... Any ideas, suggestions? Thanks.

The throw distance from the Ipro to the surface is critical. If you have to throw a long way, the black wall will not work. Your image quality will be very very dark. If you are with 8-10 feet it might work, but the "daytime" image may look like a dusk or evening because your sky tones will darken slightly.
Try it and see if you are getting the effect you want, and you may be able to make due. Ideally you will want to project onto a lighter surface. My experience with the iPros is that you can get significant fall off in the image quality and intensity of the image pretty quickly. |
