HES DataFlash Strobes (the older non af1000)
I just got 6 Dataflash strobes. I was wondering if anyone knows how to tell if these are DMX. They have dips on the back and they were advertised as DMX i just wanted to make sure. Also, on these older puppies is there anyway to have them come on without using a DMX controller like I know the DataFlash AF1000s do.

Yes you can. There is a stand alone mode outline on page 15 (or the 23rd page of the pdf) of the manual which can be found here: http://www.highend.com/pub/products/...000/af1000.pdf
All of High End Systems discontinued (a.k.a. "Legacy") products have published manuals online at their website.
