I think that there's a number of book threads floating around here...do a search! Ship had a really good post on this topic if I remember correctly.

That's a nice collection Grog... I would add another classic text book to the list: "Designing with Light" by J. Michael Gilette

Newly added to my collection:
"Automated Lighting" by Richard Cadena... surprisingly this book breaks the automated light down into subsystems and spends more than half the book on things like lamps, electricity, motors, optics, reflectors... all really good stuff that applies to all lights, not just the automated ones. A book for those who like to tear stuff apart and figure out how it works.

"Practical DMX" by Nick Mobsby... I've talked about how great this book is in far too many threads. Easy to read and fun... it takes the mystery out of control systems.

"Lighting Techniques For Theatre-in-the-round" by Jackie Staines... just got it haven't started reading yet.

If you can find a copy and are willing to drop some dime on it -

The Magic of Light by Jean Rosenthal.

It's out of print - I actually had to get mine on Ebay... but well worth the effort.

Photometrics Handbook is another one. Had just about every fixture in it with lamps and weight and photometric info on it. a great tool to be sure

I'm under strict orders if I ever find that book to buy several copies of it.

Amazon's got them... 9 copies ranging in price from $99-$325. Go ahead and get your "several" copies.

Yeah that's typical....There's a difference between finding them in the physical sense and Amazon...

I think that I paid 120 for mine, and yes, it is every bit worth it.

Like I said, they are sought after and it is no longer in print - those wonderful laws of supply and demand.
