Default Apollo Right Arm?

Hi Everyone,

Sorry if this is a repost, I searched a few times as best I could but couldn't manually look through every post.

Anyway, has anyone used Apollo's right arm. It looks like a pretty cool thing to have. It can tilt and pan any instrument, including video projectors.

Yes, it is a cool thing, and there should be places where we talked about it. If you want the full scoop send a PM to Kelite as he works for Apollo. Also, I believe gafftaper is planning on getting some for his new theatre. Other than that, it is kinda old news.

Yep, I'll be able to tell you more in a couple of months. I'm buying 4 Right Arms and 4 I-cues for the new theater. I'm impressed with the flexibility. I like the idea of having both as there are times that the Right Arm is too big and so the I-cue can take over. On the other hand the Right Arm is much more flexible, as you said. I'm excited about mounting a projector on it as a low budget way to play a little with video. I haven't actually used one myself yet. But soon...

I recently had a brief debate with Jon Hirsch in P.M. about them. He's not all that impressed. I'm not going to put words in his mouth though.

Its not that I am not impressed its that I don't feel its all that original...

But I believe they are a nice unit.

I feel they definatly fill a need, and the fact they have 2 POWERED accessory ports is pretty amazing. People have been using autoyokes to do the same thing for years and now everyone can afford them. The only question I would have is how much extra torque gets put on the clamp, the one they picture with it looks pretty weak.

Tim, it's a DMX controlled pan/tilt device for conventional lighting instruments.

Not really all that revolutionary, just good marketing.

There are a couple similar products out there but they are designed for a specific instrument. The beauty of the Right Arm is you can mount just about anything onto it, and you have one of the major players in the industry behind it. Yes these sorts of devices have been around a long time but this one is reasonably priced for what it does, has on board power supply that will power any devices mounted on the instrument. It's a really well done, well timed product to the market.
