Hmm, you wonder, did he just got down to the shop and buy a used Par can? How much is a par worth anyway? Not $293, though I guess that's including the tripod.

Derek... if you get your table lamp silver plated you could be king of a new industry.

"This lamps character has been retained through the marks and dents it has collected during it's professional life."
I like that line. Thinking I'l change it slightly and use it as a sig. "This LD's character has been retained through the marks and dents it has collected during it's professional life." SB |

" It's really a POS par can, but you can own it for $500.00 US" Is this guy serious? I have to go check out his "store" now to see his other reconditioned gear.

Ebay can be an odd place. Recently expired, with no bids, was an Altman 20" Scoop for $5. Fair enough, but shipping was $104! I have to think the ones really making a killing on internet commerce are the carriers: USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc.

Hey, don't blame the seller, blame the idiot who actually buys it. If this guy wants to make some profit of something that cost him maybe 40 bucks...why not? But the thought that someone would actually buy it for that price......

I know someone who, apparently recently made hundreds of dollars on ebay. (He is also a suspected compulsive liar.)
Assuming he actually did what he claims, he purchased several copies of a recent video game, put the auction up and set the title to something slightly misleading. Tons of parents desperate for their kids "perfect xmas gift" searched through ebay, the stupid ones bought the wrong game for 3x its value. (I believe he mentioned the trick is setting it as a "Buy It Now" auction, that gives them no chance to think / bid about it, they just buy it on an impulse, hoping to still get that "great deal". I think it's underhanded... but he DID make hundreds. |
