As far as I recall, its essentially a macro tablet that you can make "interactive" magic sheets with.

Yea, I vaguely remember something where you would laying something over, like a transparency, or piece of paper, which would correspond to already mapped hotspots or what not. A much more dynamic macro tablet.

I was helping clean out the basement of CSN, local college, today. We found it, there was a good layer of dust on this thing.
Is it computer based or console based?

Now i have to get a Floppy drive and a serial port for my computer.

I just happen to have an old magic ETC book that has the original spec, so I scanned it. Attached.

Designed to work with Expression, 2x, and 3 consoles. PDF. See also Expression31 User's Manual, pp. 338-340, or the appropriate User's Manual for your Expression.

Here at the university there's a lot of things that we can't get rid of because of University property tags. In an old department (not theater ask me in PM if you care) we donated a lot of stuff to the school of engineering basically for the purpose of a history of computing hardware class (I actually help presenters setup from time to time now). Your stuff isn't that old at this point but that doesn;t mean there isn't a lighting professor nearby that doesn't want to show his/her student "this is the way we used to do it."
