Default LED par with sequence

Hey all-
A art student friend of mine posed an interesting challenge for me. He has a piece of art which he wants illuminated in slowly changing warm colors, now if this was for a one night art showing I would spec some led par 64's and my board and call it done, but he wants it for his room, so a controller is out of the question.

Does anyone know of a smaller size LED par that you can program a chase right into?

Some of the American DJ products have built in color chases. I don't know if they can be programmed and then left alone like you might want though. I don't think they can, but never having seen them, I don't know for sure. Also in comparison with some other LED PARs, they are relatively cheap, though not exactly inexpensive.

Pie, only two options I can think of:

1) The COLORsplash Jr. ($49) + the MonsterDMX ($97) + XLR cable
or
2) The coolthingscheap.com LED bulbs ($19.97) that are not exactly programmable, but have 6 different built-in modes, one of which is a slow roll through all the colors.

The ADJ LED PARs can do a slow (or fast, or in between) color scroll without a controller, but they will go through all the color variations, not just the selected warmer colors your friend wants.

Why no controller? They can be had for less than the cost of a LED fixture.

This would be setup in his bedroom, so space is the main issue.

Here's a really pricey, but small, option then. Or this. As someone once said: "Art isn't easy." (Or inexpensive!)

eh, that would take up the same amount of space as a cheapo controller.

He could use this playback controller, it's only 7 x 3 x 1.2"
