Default CT AutoFocus

So conversation in another thread brought up a question. City Theatrical lists an AutoFocus unit an option to go with their Auto Yoke system. Given what i know about Auto Yoke units it seems to me that you wouldn't necessarily have to use the auto focus unit with the auto yoke. So two questions:

First of all has anyone used an AutoFocus unit and if so what do you think about them.

Second Am I right could you put it in a fixture that's not on an Auto Yoke just like any other DMX toys

If anyone wants to know why this applies almost directly to the gaff method, as it would give you a dynamic focusing ability.

Sure you could, but it could take "special" power. My question is, why would you want a fixed unit with variable focus? Seams like a waste of time to me.

Use with an I-cue or a side arm was my thought, cause they are both alot cheaper than Auto Yokes

If it worked with a right arm, that could be cool. With an i-cue, I doubt it could move the barrel with the extra weight and the torque on the tube. Also, as well all know who have worked with them, getting a good edge is nearly impossible with a mirror that moves. Would be worth a shot though. Wouldn't be a bad thing to have around, but really this is starting to look like that VL1000 add that ran 6-7 years ago with the monkey and parts hot glued to a source4.
