Default Fiber Optic Drop / Control

For a up coming show that I am master electrician on we will be using several star drops. I think I under stand how they work correct me if im wrong (the trunk comes from the light source and then spreads out in random directions. I also believe that for each drop there is about 4 separate trunks of fiber optic strands)

What I don't have much information on is control over the light source. I seem to remember that they are called either “Color Pro’s” or “Color Probes”. But I am unable to find a product with either name. Regardless of the name of the product how do they work. I assume they run on DMX, but from what you know from have using them, What is usually included with it, Color wheel, how many colors? And also is it like a rotating gobo wheel that makes the twinkle? Is there a product you could direct me to see the manual and such?

Im sorry if this is vague but I don't have very much information on the control unit, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Fiber Drops use a fiber optic illuminator. Depending on the illuminator, most are DMX controlled. If they are, indeed, Color Pro's, they are probably Color Pro FX from High End.

The Color Pro is discontinued but still nice. IIRC, it's 3 channels for cmy, a dimmer and separate strobe/shutter channel, and a twinkle wheel. Maybe a couple others. I think there's 9 in all.

Number of fixtures needed will depend on the drape. Typically, there's 2 per panel, but you can custom make them with as many fiber lines as the mfg. can squeeze in.
