How do you market to your clients as a scene shop? What has been most effective, what didn't work? We also build for event coordinators. I want to expand. Any ideas? trade magazines?

Tell us more about what you do. Are you a "I'll build whatever you need" sort of operation?
First off word of mouth is critical. I would try to personally contact every T.D. in the area with something that makes a positive impression. Schools that might have a budget would good too. But you can waste a lot of time with schools that can't afford anything. Stage Directions would be my chosen magazine to advertise in if I were you. Join USITT. Join any local theater associations... If you want to do business up here in Seattle join "Theater Puget Sound" I don't know what there is down your way.
