I've been lurking these forums for a few years now finding answers to my questions, or at least new directions to go in, which then led to answers. I've been working in theatre for just over 5 years now. I started on deck, moved to the rail/flyman, and now I've weaseled my way into lighting. I primarily work out of a road house theatre at a community college and am an asst. production person at a technical high school. Sometimes I catch some work with the Prudential center or with a group doing corporate meetings, but I'm just a grunt for them. I tend to work on an Ion console. We just rented 2 DL.3's and 4 VL3500s and a buncha cxi scrollers. The VL's I'm acquainted with. The scrollers are jerks. And the DL.3's manual is written with the intention that the programmer is using a hog. Sooo that's been interesting, but I think we've gotten a lot out of it so far.
