Default Gafftaper's CB fairy tale

By way of introduction for our new members, I've culled some quotes from this thread.

Grog is passed out on the floor nearby it's unclear if he's been drinking or knocked out by the remote beer launcher Footer installed on the fridge. Footer left the theater several hours ago laughing and hasn't been seen since.

Eboy and Pie4Weebl are out at a concert and won't be seen until 4am. None of the rest of us are cool enough to know who the band is or what kind of music they even play so we stay behind and listen to "Captain Bogg and Salty" all night long instead. Pieces of 8!

And good old Phil the "AVKid" is out on the prowl until the wee hours of the morning. No one knows exactly where he's goes or what he does but he always falls asleep at the sound desk at 2am.

A brief history of CB abridged:

In the beginning there was nothing. A black void in the interwebs. Thus did dvsdave say "let there be a controlbooth, a place where all entertainment technicians can come and talk shop with eachother." And there was CB. As time passed and the people started to find CB dvsdave recruited friends and other technicians to moderate the CB, they came to be know as "The Senior Team." Some make CB keep working while others moderate the forums.

Thus, the world of CB continued to expand and soon it became apparent that new servers were needed and donations would be needed. So dvsdave asked and much of the CB responded, offering up if they were able, to keep the CB alive. With the help of the people, servers and services were upgraded.

And so it came to pass in the land of CB, all the entertainment technicians found a happy place to be. A place where all the world was black and gold (except for a few who saw it in an altered state) and knowledge and much useless information poured forth. Questions were asked and answers were given, though not all advice was followed. People from all over the planet have come to CB to partake of the knowledge and silliness that lives there. We accept of everyone so that they may learn and excel in our beloved industry.

Soup or art?

"Crap happens, it is our job as technicians to fix the problem and see if it can be avoided. That does not mean yelling at actors or other crew people. We make mistakes, that is life. Welcome to live theatre, if it were the same every night it would be TV." ~Me

It seems to me a few additions are needed:
Cdub can be found in a plywood box in the wings stage left. He apparently spends most of his day in his plywood box posting on CB. It's small but he's got a cool dragon in there with him. Dip used to be in the box too but aparently she recently was vaporized by the dragon.

Kelite is out back at the loading dock packing boxes full of Apollo gum and swatch books. He can be heard mumbling "2473 to go before UPS arrives at 6am. 2472 to go before UPS arrives at 6am..."

Dave and Rick are down in the tech office. Huddled around a computer. The Wiki is down and the guy who wrote the software has fallen off the face of the earth. It's going to be a long night. Rachel calls to see if Dave is coming home tonight. She is a patient woman... but Dave better bring a boxes of Apollo gum with him or he's in trouble.

And out in the parking lot Greenia can be seen running from empty parked car to empty parked car yelling, "I want some Pad THAI!!!"

The phone rings. It's Icewolf and Porkchop. There is a crisis at the Pioneer theater. While cutting tieline to two cubit lengths they ran out! Red Alert! Ruinexplorer is on watch tonight. He takes the call and knows exactly what to do. A quick PM to BillESC and a 3000 foot spool of tieline is on it's way to Utah and will be there by morning.

Meanwhile Gaff sleeps on through it all with visions of LDI dancing in his head.

So reading this, it kind of makes me want to do a show with people on here... just to see what would actually happen...

While we would have a great time, most people would pay money to not see it... although that could become a fundraiser on it's own.

Hmmmm I'm thinking a sort of a "mash-up" High School Musical, meets Westside Story, slammed into A Chorus Line blended gently into The Producers.

A musical? I haven't done one of those in years.

It would never work guys. Can you imagine the battles that would ensue over the sound and light consoles, speakers, lighting instruments... worse yet imagine the battle over which gel colors to use. Too many LD's in the Booth for it to work.
