Default looking for a soundboard

so im looking for a good board. it needs to have 12 xlr port and two more ports for a cd player and one free one just if i need it. so really its a 14 port board but i only need 12 of them to be xlr. im looking to spend as little money as i can so any help on type or site would be great. if there is something that also has firewire out or is good for recording on my mac that would be great but i dont want it if it will cost me a lot more.

The least expensive acceptable unit out there is made by Peavey.
Buy Peavey PV20 USB Mixer | Unpowered Mixers | Musician's Friend

If you can deal with 10 XLR inputs:
Buy Peavey PV 14 USB 14-Channel Mixer with Digital Output and Effects | Unpowered Mixers | Musician's Friend

those are both great boards and right around the price im looking to spend. thank you. but the first one doesnt work with mac and i have 12 wireless mics that i need to run out out of it. so would be smart to get a board with less xlr ports and convert them down to 1/4 inch or lower. would it be a lot cheaper to get a non digital board. thanks again

We meet again, Itie!

Realize that neither of those boards are what could be called "digital mixers". They may have some parts (FX, alternate I/O) that are, but they are still analog boards.

You'd spend around $1,500-1,800 for a Yamaha 01V96v2 or VCM. I'd like to get one, but am focused on other investments at the moment.

Also, I think that you are limiting yourself for the future. If you have 12 wireless mics, then you will certainly want more channels later on. Gotta keep on moving up, right?

the Allen & Heath ZED mixers don't seem like a bad option at all, though admittedly I have never used one. Go out to yonder music store and fiddle around like ye olde minstrel...except stick with the mixers and not the lyre.

It's getting late and my brain is starting to function...not-so-well...so I'll leave you with that.

Do you have a budget? What are you wanting to record, multitrack for each channel or just the stereo output? What is the application? Any constraints on size? What kinds of inputs (ports) do you need for your CD player? Do you need phantom power for microphones or DIs?

The A&H ZED-24 is a bit more then the Peavey but supports PC or Mac recording via USB.

They are all plug and play USB.

"The PV 14 USB features built-in DSP effects with multiple reverbs and delays, plus vocal enhancer and much more, while a USB port allows direct connection to a USB-equipped computer for recording from the mixer or playing back digital audio (compatible with Mac OSX, Windows XP, ME & 2000)"

I think he might have been referencing the statement on the linked Musician's Friend page, which is in turn taken from Peavey's site, that the PV20 is "Compatible with Win XP, ME and 2000". You have to read the actual manual to find the comment that it is also compatible with Mac OS X 10.0 or later.

The blip I copied is directly off Peavey's product page.
Peavey.com :: PV Series

Don't believe what mass MI retailers say.
