This is getting confusing, we have 3 ATW-T701 bodypack transmiters witch have a locking 4 pin conector and we also have 1 trantec S3.2 bodypack transmitor with a with a 4 pin LEMO conector, we are getting 3 new head sets with mini 4 pin xlr conectors, for the 3 ATW transmiter and am planing on getting a lavailer for the s3.2 transmitor. If the 3 headsets conectors are not the same (we think they are) then is there adaptors that we could use? i did look brefly for some but had no luck.
I do have a tie clip lavalir that i am lookign at getting but im not to sure what conector it is, and there is no product name so i cant look it up, it dose have a pictur but its a conecter i have never seen befor so im getting rather confused on this (!!why cant they just use a universal conector?!?! gess i should have posted a link befor... sorry http://www.terralec.co.uk/microphone...e/20295_p.html Last edited by AlexD; September 9th, 2009 at 03:06 PM.. |

The microphone posted in the link has a TA4F connector which is fairly common.
![]() The Trantec unit has this: Trantec | wireless systems | radio microphones | guitar systems Audio-Technica uses this: ![]() Adapters are usually more trouble than they're worth on a bodypack transmitter. I would suggest you ask the vendor you're buying from whether they can get the same microphone with a compatible connector.

I would disagree, but only under some circumstances. For instance, I'd tend to prefer a microdot plus a relevant adaptor to TA4F because they fail far less often. They also have advantages if you want to standardise your stock of mics yet have multiple manufacturers in inventory...

Yes i can see how they would be a pain. thanks for the info

Yes but cables have a far higher failure rate than adapters because of the flex points.
It all depends on what you are trying to achieve... |

But the failure rate wouldent be any higher than a normal xlr cable attached to a hand held mic right? |

As to ridding the oddballs from inventory, when everyone in theatre is willing to accept Shure R series, then the Sennheiser 3000 / 5000 might see the door. Not before. (This being the instance that caused me to think of the inventory issue). Cross manufacturer frequency coordination is a fact of life. When you can get wireless comms from Shure or Sennie then maybe less so and on a BIG event, you get stuck with multiple manufacturers by virtue of endorsement agreements and artist preference... |

Yes ye are not willing to get rid of the oddball, quite the opsite! We have found some lavialrs with the conector we need for the 3 we allready have, and we are getting a higher quality lavalir for the oddball, we will give the oddball to the lead (we are planing) and we will manufactur some headsets out of the lavalirs useing surgical tape and thin wire.
